If you are sitting still at home they may switch to a less sluggish noise cancelling level compared to when you are on the train. They also play outside audio to make you aware of your surroundings while walking around the town. Another option is multipoint that lets you connect the headphones to two devices simultaneously. This is a great feature if you want to listen music on your laptop and make a phone call simultaneously. Multipoint isn't disabled by default, but you can easily enable it by going to the Headphones Connect App's System tab. There's a downside to this however: when you turn on multipoint, you lose the possibility of using the top-quality Bluetooth codec LDAC. Similar to the WH-1000XM4s before it the Sony WH-1000XM5's touchscreen controls allow you to control music playback as well as make calls from your phone. You can swipe forwards and backwards using the touchpad to skip tracks, or reverse to pause and resume playing. The right ear cup houses physical buttons for power and volume.
